Help me, why the farmers advised to plant leguminous plant.

The farmers advised to plant leguminous plant because the leguminous plants have nodes which contains bacteria which are responsible to converts atmospheric nitrogen dioxide (NO2) into nitrate (NO3) hence it add nitrogen in the soil as a results soil fertility is maintained
